OFF-ROAD MOTORCYCLE CLASSES

IT’S TIME TO GET DIRTY

Prepare for a full day of fun as you build foundational off-road skills that can be put to use anytime, anywhere. Choose from one-day or two-day classes, and get ready to find some dirt.

MASTERS OF ANY TERRAIN

Our pro instructors are here to guide you through every challenge.

PRO RIDING INSTRUCTION

Our professional riding instructors have years of experience and are with you every step of the way. They’ll always perform the initial exercises with you, demonstrating everything from proper seating positions to the best way through a corner.

REACH YOUR OWN LIMITS

We practice challenge by choice, so you’re always at a level of performance that you feel comfortable with. Our instructors provide instant and positive reinforcement while encouraging each rider to have a little fun. Okay, maybe more than a little.

BECOME A BETTER OFF-ROAD RIDER

SLOW RIDE

Image

Your brakes aren’t the only way to keep it slow. We’ll show you how to control speed through the friction zone of the clutch. Get your fingers nice and loose.

TRAIL STOP

Image

Trail Stops involve bringing the motorcycle to a complete temporary stop while you maintain your balance. Then, add throttle and, with a controlled release of the clutch, you’ll regain stability with forward momentum.

WASHBOARDS AND RUTS

Image

These sections are all about body control and managing suspension capabilities of the bike. You’ll learn the proper position for traversing small and big hills alike while keeping it smooth.

GRAVEL AND SAND

Image

Learn how to control your adventure bike in deep loose gravel, building the foundations for riding in sand and mud.

START AND STOP ON A HILL

Image

Overcome an unexpected stop on the face of a hill by getting yourself back down safely in a controlled manner. Then, head down the other side and recover from a drop.

HILL ASCEND/DESCEND

Image

Prepare for attack. You’l gain the confidence needed to navigate any size hill. Then, ride down in a controlled manner that will allow you to react to the unexpected.

SIDE START

Image

Sometimes nature gets in the way when mounting the bike. This technique will help you overcome these challenges and take your “in control” confidence to the next level.

OFF-ROAD STEERING

Image

We’ve all been there – you turn the bars and the bike reacts in an unexpected way. Off-road steering is all about how to control and steer on loose terrain, making sure you’re prepared for the unexpected.

EMERGENCY BRAKING

Image

For this exercise, you’ll be on a BMW GS bike and switch to Enduro Pro mode. Keep your weight back and eyes up as you let the rear lock to scrub speed and stay in control off-road.

Start this one-day session with some classroom instruction that covers the basics of off-road riding. Then, run through exercises that teach balance, control and confidence on varied surfaces. After a complimentary lunch, tackle unique off-road paths complete with ruts and washboards, then practice emergency braking. End the day a better rider than when you woke up.

Please visit our Hotels Page for more information.

What skill level is required?

Beginner to intermediate riders. You should be comfortable operating a motorcycle, but no off-road experience is required.

What is the student-to-instructor ratio?

The ratio is 1 instructor to 3 students.

How much individual coaching will I receive?

We keep the student-to-instructor ratio small, 1 to 3. This allows the instructor the ability to be more attentive and adapt to each student’s needs.

Do I need to provide my own bike?

No. BMW provides each student with a professionally maintained GS model motorcycle.

Do the motorcycles have crash bars?

All BMW motorcycles are equipped with crash bars and skid plates.

What happens if I drop my motorcycle?

Your motorcycle of choice is 100% liability free to you.

Can I request a specific bike model?

You may request any motorcycle in the GS fleet, but assignments depend on availability.

Are the motorcycles set up for shorter or taller riders?

We have all OEM suspension models available – ARH, Standard and Sport Suspension

Do you provide hydration and snacks?

Yes. Water and refreshments are available throughout the day.

Does weather affect the class?

Training runs rain or shine. Class is stopped only due to lightning within 12 miles.

Are there lockers or places to store personal items during the training?

Yes. Lockers are in the restroom. Belongings can also stay in your group’s private classroom.

Is there a place to wash up or change after riding?

Yes. Showers and changing rooms are located in the restrooms.

Can you take photos or videos during the class?

Yes. You can take photos and videos, except the instructor’s instructions.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes.

How old do I need to be to participate in a motorcycle class?

If you have a motorcycle license to operate one on a public highway, you can take our courses.  If you’re under 18, you must have a minor waiver signed by an adult.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations for a full refund must be made within 60 days of your payment date. Cancellations made after the 60 days of payment will receive a credit to use toward another date or event. There will be no rescheduling if the cancellation is made within 14 days of your school or event.
